Heat from wood and sun The bio-heat centre for Rhineland-Palatinate is supported by two strong partners:
The Technologie- und Gründerzentrum Hunsrück GmbH with the Simmern Verbandsgemeinde, as main shareholding associate, and the federal forestry for Rhineland-Palatinate, represented by the office for Communication and Marketing (Kommunikation und Marketing - KOMMA for short).
The Bio-Heat Centre for Rhineland-Palatinate in the Hunsrück Technology and Founders' Centre in Ohlweiler is essentially a permanent exhibition on the market of established and technologically sophisticated heating systems which use environmentally friendly energy sources like wood in the form of wood pellets and wood chips, as well as sun in the form of solar plants.
It is aimed at all those people who
- are planning a new-build residential house, or
- want to convert and modernise,
- want to replace their old heating system and
- aim for a future oriented, environmentally friendly and cost effective heating supply.
At the permanent exhibition, you will experience the modern world of wood firing and solar power utilisation:
- from a burning chimney oven up to fully automated central heating,
- from solar collector up to heat accumulator,
- from ash pan to smoke extractor,
- from tried and tested firewood to wood chip up to wood pellets - the "fuel rods" of the future
